Loyalty cards your clients actually finish

Paper stamp cards work because they are simple. Here is how we kept that simplicity when the card moved into the booking system.

The coffee-shop stamp card has outlived a thousand cleverer schemes for one reason: everyone understands it. Six visits, a stamp each time, something lovely at the end. When we added loyalty cards to Bee-booked, the whole job was keeping that shape — and resisting the urge to make it clever.

What makes a card work

  • Keep the target reachable — six visits suits most treatment rhythms; twelve is a marathon.
  • Make the reward worth finishing for — a free treatment, or a proper amount off, not a token.
  • Decide the small rules up front: does a discounted visit earn a stamp? Do old stamps last forever? (Ours lets you set both, per card.)
  • Show clients where they stand — Bee-booked prints the card, bee stamps and all, on their confirmation email.

One stamp per visit — we learned that one live

In the first week, a client had three treatments in one morning, booked as three appointments — and collected three stamps for one visit. The practitioner spotted it immediately: loyalty counts visits, not line items. So now a visit earns one stamp however many treatments it holds, and if you try to stamp the same day twice the checkout simply says so.

You hold the stamp

Stamps are never automatic. When you check a visit out, Bee-booked asks — stamp their card, three becomes four of six? — and you tap yes or not this time. If the visit used a discount and your card is full-price-only, the answer arrives pre-set to no, and you can still overrule it. It is your card; the software just holds the ink.

Moving from another system? Set a starting balance on any client’s card and the stamps they earned on paper — or in your old software — come with them. A full card earns its reward straight away, as it should.

Like the sound of simple?
